What to include on your invoice

Procreate artists price primarily on complexity and licensing scope. A simple icon illustration runs $100–$400 for personal use. Full commercial licensing for a character or brand illustration can reach $1,000–$5,000. Hourly rates ($40–$100/hr) suit ongoing clients with varied requests. Always split your quote into creation fee plus license fee — it professionalises your pricing and protects your work.
Getting paid faster
Illustration clients — especially first-time commissioners — often don't realise that the artwork they requested might require a licensing discussion. Before starting, clarify in writing what the artwork will be used for, where, and for how long. Require 50% upfront for all custom work and only deliver high-resolution final files after the balance is paid. Never send full-resolution previews — watermark all previews before payment.
